Æ is Norse for forever or always — a reflection of our long-term commitment to forests, land stewardship, and wildfire resilience. Practically speaking, using “Æ” also places AE Forever Forestry near the top of the British Columbia Forest Safety Council certification listings and lookup, making it easier for clients and partners to find us.

Our name reflects who we are and where we come from.

Tor brings five generations of family commitment to land stewardship on the British Columbia coast. His family history is deeply rooted in the region — Manson’s Landing is named after his family, and the Ellingsen family previously owned both Middlenatch and Hernando Islands. A third-generation logger and forester, Tor carries forward a legacy of practical forestry knowledge. His father and cousin currently sit on the Board of Directors of the Cortes Community Forest, continuing the family’s long-standing involvement in responsible forest management.

Kate brings more than 20 years of operational firefighting experience in remote British Columbia communities. Through firsthand experience on the fire line, she recognized that effective wildfire response must begin long before ignition. Her work is driven by the importance of proactive mitigation and sustainable forest practices to reduce wildfire risk and protect the future health of BC forests.

Effective land stewardship means making decisions today that protect the natural environment of tomorrow. It fosters a healthy, sustainable, and respectful relationship with the land while reducing long-term risk.

For properties located outside municipal fire department jurisdictions, proactive mitigation is essential. Creating defensible space around homes and structures is critical, particularly where response times may be delayed due to distance, access, or limited firefighting resources. Thoughtful preparation significantly improves safety, resilience, and wildfire outcomes.

Kate brings over 20 years of operational wildfire experience, with a strong focus on work in remote and interface communities. Through firsthand experience, she understands the critical importance of creating defensible space in areas where access is limited and emergency response times may be extended.

She holds the following certifications and qualifications:

  • Certified DTA Instructor — University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC)

  • Community Wildfire Training Instructor — Thompson Rivers University (TRU)

  • Wildfire Training — TRU (including S-100)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology — University of Victoria (UVic)
